Going with the Grain

I never fight the tree. Every cut changes its future architecture, so true pruning is less about removing branches than understanding growth response, light, disease risk, vigour, fruiting habit and the tree’s stage of life.My approach is practical, sympathetic and seasonal: preserving character where possible while improving structure, health and productive potential. I actively encourage ecological features like deadhedges and log piles, whilst taking utmost care not to disturb wildlife whilst working.
